Lumen is deliberately straightforward about what it does, where it runs, and what is still being prepared.
Does Lumen upload my images?
No. Lumen is designed as a local-first Mac app. Images, filenames, OCR, thumbnails, derived understanding, and local curation stay on your Mac. There is no account or analytics requirement.
Do I have to reorganize my folders first?
No. Real folders remain the source of truth. Follow a folder and Lumen builds a private, persistent memory around it while leaving the structure you already use in place.
What can Lumen search?
Words search can cover filenames, paths, OCR, tags, notes, provenance, and other local text. Appearance search uses local visual understanding when the optional model is available. Color, traits, dates, ratings, and curation can narrow the result further.
What happens after I rename or move a file?
Lumen records content identity separately from file location. When the same image is encountered again, the successful local work can be reused instead of being rebuilt from zero.
Does Lumen edit or replace originals?
Not by default. Finishing creates derivatives. Trash, move, and rename are explicit file lifecycle actions that revalidate their targets and use confirmation and recovery paths where the system provides them.
Is Lumen available on the App Store?
Not yet. The product is being prepared for its first signed release. This site will connect the Download button to the App Store as soon as a canonical listing exists.
